MURNAU camp Films
Film 10 Trademark of the film : Voigtlander Photos #12 to 20 are missing On the #11 we can read at the back of the truck : PW CAMP MURNAU The photo #25 which is horizontal is upside down like if the camera had been hold reversed, what is impossible with an usual camera. The only one possibility is that the camera had a 90° viewfinder (like a Rolleiflex or an Hasselblad) which give the possibility to use the camera reversed, to take photos from an higher point of view, above one's head. At the year 1940, there was one camera using 35 mm film like this : it was the Praktiflex, a German camera with a Schneider optic. Photos # 32-36 and 38 show Maj Gen (in the Polish Army: general of brigade) Kazimierz Schally during his visit in Murnau in May (or June), 1945. Schally was the commander of the Polish Military Mission by the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF). (Thank you to Jaroslaw Baczyk for these informations).
