MURNAU camp Films
Film 7 Trademark of the film : Voigtlander In this roll film the photo #7 is quite the same as the #18 from the film 4 : a soldier is lighting another soldier cigarette on the right of the picture on both of them. Officers and soldiers in the background have slighly moved but some of them can be recognized. What does it means ? TWO PHOTOGRAPHERS (one more indication in that direction) Here, two photographers seem to have taken
quite the same photo. Both of them are side by side, one is on
the right (photo #7, film 7), the other on the left (photo #18,
film 4). No other explanation seems possible. Even if we suppose
that only one photographer used two cameras, why would he have
changed his camera as he was moving lightly from left to right
in a few seconds and as his roll films were not finished (these
photos are not at the end of the rolls) ? Something else support
the possibility of two photographers : they were not the same
height. The one who took the #18, film 4 was taller than the
other. If we watch the two men lighting the cigarette, we notice
that the perspective of the roof behind the man's cap on the
left and the angle of view are different on both photos. The
photographer on the left was taller than the photographer on
the right. Because of the movements of the soldiers in the background
the #18, film 4 seems to be the first one while the second has
been taken a few seconds later. So to sum up : A large part of this film is missing, from #14 to #31. We only found the end of the film from #32 to #37. The topic of the end is about the road where the Americans and the two German cars met and dead bodies were lying on the ground.
